Update: After a week on the run, Dr. Ganja of Thailand returns home
Mrs. Ganja has asked that their privacy be respected
In case you missed it, last week we reported that the lovable mascot had gone on the run after being accused of public joyfulness after consuming medical cannabis.
Joy, fun and happiness were all about to be banned, with new punishments for those who failed to comply, (really).
Once it was clear that the international media (again) had provided misinformation for their own gain, Dr. Ganja was on the first choo-choo train home to his wife in the dale.
Is there a lesson here for cannabis lovers? Of course:
1. For the love of God, never make life decisions as a cannabis advocate based on the reporting of the international media.
2. If you find yourself overwhelmed with the sheer stupidity of certain cannabis policies, remember that your advocacy of the plant is on the right side of history and is already vindicated by science.
3. Sooner or later, ignorance and stupid ideas will run up against reality, and reality will win.
4. Weed and cannabis products will be destigmatized, but not once and for all; fighting for the truth against the forces of darkness is our life-long responsibility.
Dr. Ganja is an inspiration to us all. He got scared and ran. Then he checked himself. Now he is back and more determined than ever to be a happy warrior for cannabis freedom, and for people to be allowed to take control of their own health and happiness.
There were a few times before June 9th 2022 when I felt like walking away - cutting my losses. It would have been more of a false start, as I only learned about medical cannabis in Thailand in 2019.
Back then, everyone could see that the market was quickly turning into a zombie - consisting of hospitals, universities and a few underfunded clinics. I understand you could get dried flower - sometimes - from some clinics with written permission.
Then THC tinctures on sale in retail spaces happened. But the demand never broke into a stride and interest remained moderate. Then decriminalization dropped out of the sky one day and everything changed.

I was pushed to give my take in plain and simple language in the comments of a LinkedIn post. I’m grateful for the excellent engagement. I share it with you, dear reader, to round out this quick post.
